Tik... tik... tick... tok.. tock....

Song: Tik Tok by Ke$ha

The first few parts of the song sound so 90's which is fantastic that I finally heard a 90's beat on one of the new songs today. First impression (when I was only listening to the first few stanzas)... boring!!! But I guess this is when I could say first impressions do not always last coz at the time that I heard the part: "Don't stop.. Make it Pop.." I suddenly realized... that this song is actually catchy and upbeat. I love to hear this song and groove in a club with it in the background. This may be for the girls, like just another "Pink" type of music. Maybe yes, maybe not.. but who cares... the beat is energetic that I almost wanted to get off from my bed to dance.

The video starts with a girl (played by Ke$ha) who gets up in a tub in a party clothes and then ends up sleeping in another tub again after a long night of party. Other parts of the video do not make sense... some points are useless... it could have just been a dancing scene all the time... In my own point of view, those unnecessary parts show a try-hard imitation of Avril Lavigne music videos.

Forever Young

"Youth is like diamonds in the sun, and diamonds are forever, so many adventures couldn't happened today, so many songs that we forgot to play..."
These are only a few of the lines from the magical and inspirational song: Forever Young... Who doesn't agree in living forever young? I love each and every lyrics of this song... each line is so powerful that I feel like I would live really stay forever young (hahaha I wish!)

I must admit this is a timeless classic... maybe the youngsters wouldn't appreciate and couldn't relate to the song but later when the get older I'm pretty sure they'd feel what this song aims to bring.  Well, hmmm maybe Jay Z's version could bring the song's message to the youth... there are two other version of the song: The Alphaville,  The Youth Group (I think their version made the song much more famous) and others. The Youth Group's music video is so cool, that it shows kids (dressed up like a 70's setting) rolling their skate boards down the road, not caring about the worries of this world. Love it!

The beat, is not too noisy and not to slow which makes it just right for everyone from any generation (x,y or the baby boomers). It's youthful yet so classic. Or classic yet so youthful.

This is what I realize after listening to this song: Do everything that you can when you're young. The world is a wonderful place and spend the most out of it. Live well, stay away from trouble, coz trouble spoils the fun. :)

One Less Lonely Girl - Justin Bieber

If I were a 13 year old, I would probably love this song to death!!! Justin Bieber , an adorable teen-age boy has been dominating the music charts globally with his hit single, One Less Lonely Girl. Young girls would for sure grab their copies of this young singer's his album... however this particular track may be categorized as one of the trashy songs by hard core musicians out there. He reminds me of the ' 'lil Aaron Carter way back in the 90's... (where is Aaron Carter now by the way?)

The message of the song is wonderful as it talks about a lady who's fallen in love but never been happy, 'coz she never gets what she deserves, while a boy (who is inlove with her) has been a witness of her unhappiness... it could have been much more convincing if the song was performed by an older singer, like perhaps Ne-Yo, Jessie McCartney or Aaron Carter?!  Ah and this specific feedback applies to the music video as well.

Author's Welcome Note

Welcome to my Beats ‘N Pieces, a blog site that aims to provide comprehensive song reviews or comments that you could perhaps relate to. NOT all song reviews are desirable, so you also may find criticisms or suggestions of what a song could have sounded if written or arranged differently.

I am not a professional critic, and I will be writing my feedback in my own perspective. So if you have anything to add, whether or not you agree with my thoughts, please leave a comment.

Why Beats ‘n Pieces? Music is made up of beats. Pieces could be in form of lyrics, or the notes or it could even mean the entries in this blog… so that should explain it all.

I really do hope that you’ll enjoy reading my future entries.
